How It All Began…

“The Lorimer Road street improvement petition was not initiated through an online petition request or application form of any type. Mrs. [Donna] Burford called our Department in May of 2014 inquiring about the possibility of installing sidewalk along Lorimer Road and upon our initial review we were able to quickly determine that the street required improvements in order to have sidewalk. We responded to her providing our petition process information which she elected to pursue therefore the street improvement petition was initiated and issued to her on November 18, 2014 for the proposed street and sidewalk improvements. Mrs. Burford successfully obtained approval of the petition from a majority of property owners representing a majority in lineal feet of frontage abutting the street from impacted property owners and on September 1, 2015 our City Council authorized and adopted the project with an 8-0 vote…. Due to this project’s controversy we have been asked to refer all requests to Nick Sadler in the Council Office who has been assigned the responsibility of handling all correspondence related to the Lorimer Road street and sidewalk improvements….”
